The YMCA uses to bring the community together. People,

The leading, non-profit fitness organization, the YMCA, was founded in 1844. The current president and CEO is Matthew Hyde. The YMCA may be contacted by email at [email protected] Currently, the organization has 10,000 neighborhoods across the nation committed to strengthening their communities. This national movement focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The YMCA emphasizes that strength is derived from the community. In other words, lasting, positive and meaningful changes occur when working together. There are many ways that the YMCA uses to bring the community together. People, of all age groups and backgrounds, are able to connect and bridge gaps within their community because the YMCA believes that everyone should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. This organization invests in the community’s children, health, and neighbors by being caring, honest, respectful, and responsible. There are many student activities available at the YMCA. Generally, these include advocating, having a career, and volunteering.Students are able to establish purposeful changes in the community by becoming advocators of the YMCA. Promoting the YMCA can help influence policies and initiatives that help give the community more opportunities for success. Students learn to develop faith and agreement among society and the government. YMCA advocators influence issues valued by everyone. The YMCA is dedicated to creating the path to attain professional goals that encourage learning at all stages of one’s career. This is done through coaching, career pathing and a comprehensive leadership development and certification system. A student is able to have a career in any of the YMCA’s focuses: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. For example, in youth development, one may work youth leadership, child care, arts, and humanities, or academic enrichment. In healthy living, one may work in family support, fitness, aquatics, or adult education. Lastly, in social responsibility, one may work in child welfare and intervention, global services, community development, or environmental education.Students are responsible for making lasting change in the community. As a volunteer, they are presumed to stimulate and encourage adolescents in developing their personality strengths, abilities and connections that guide positive practices, wellness, smart life decisions and the pursuit of higher education. Students participate in opportunities to give back and support neighborhoods, which may include advocating for the YMCA’s efforts to influence policies and initiative that positively impact societal issues of importance to the nation, and your community. In 1954, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) was founded by a small group of physical educators and physicians. The current president is Walter Thompson, Ph.D. The ACSM may be contacted by email at [email protected] ACSM is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. With over 50,000 members, ACSM strives to advance and integrate scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine. ACSM members recognize that health problems are associated with certain lifestyle choices, such as lack of exercise. For this reason, members are dedicated to promoting healthier lifestyles for people worldwide.Through ACSM, students are able to get involved and get connected, by the guidance of a student representative. Conveniently, students are able to stay updated on new research and knowledge through web-based training and local. ACSM provides students the opportunity to network with professionals from many sports medicine professions worldwide. Students are also able to attend conferences and meetings where they can present their own research or learn about the latest developments, explore funding options for their research to advance the science of sports medicine, engage in policy or advocacy work on committees that influence the direction of exercise science – regionally, nationally or internationally, and find new career opportunities in their area of interest or expertise through the ACSM online job center.I chose ACSM because it is the largest fitness organization worldwide. Also, I am interested in being involved in ACSM’s mission to advance and integrate scientific research in exercise science and sports medicine. I also enjoy the opportunities that ACSM offers, especially to students, such as advocating for exercise science as an important area for research and study. Lastly, I appreciate ACSM for offering grants and awards for student members to offset the rising cost of tuition and travel.YMCA has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, I would attend classes and activities at my local YMCA. I have made many life-long relationships with my classmates and other children in my community. I was also able to stay physically fit by participating in dance classes. Eventually, as I got older, I began volunteering at YMCA by helping with event planning for the youth. I learned many new skills because of the opportunities that YMCA gave. For example, I learned how to raise funds for health-related causes and plan youth events to help build relationships with the young adults.Personally, I would be most interested in being affiliated with YMCA because I share many positive and memorable experiences with the organization. I have learned a lot from the YMCA. Their goal to strengthen communities across the nation has sparked my own passion to reach that very same goal in my own community. Being a part of reaching that goal is very self-fulfilling.
