Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is a retired basketball player. He was born in April 16, 1947 in New York City.
When Kareem was born, his name was Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. He converted to Islam religion in 1971 and changed his name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kareem was married to Habiba Abdul-Jabbar, but divorced her a few years later. As a child at school, Kareem was always the tallest kid in his class. In grade eight, he stood at almost seven feet. He was also good at basketball at a young age. He was so good that the National Sports Writers named his team the number one high school team of the century in 2000.
After graduating from the University of California in 1969, he was drafted to the first NBA team called the Milwaukee Bucks. He was named Rookie of the Year. As he continued with the team, he eventually made with with his team to the NBA finals and beat the Baltimore Bullets.
He then won the Most Valuable Player award. He won six in total. After a while, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was not happy living in Milwaukee, even though he was very good on the basketball court. In the end of the 1975 season, he asked for a trade. He said he would like it if he was sent to either New York or Los Angeles. He was chosen to be in the Los Angeles Lakers. He made the team very good since he was in it. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wasn’t just a basketball player.
He also appeared in some movies and comedies around the 1980s. He retired from basketball in 1989. At the time he retired, he was the NBA all time leading scorer. He was also the first NBA player to play for 20 seasons. I think that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is worthy of being remembered. From what I read, I think he is one of the top players ever in the NBA. Some ways I think that are such as how he won six MVP awards.
When he was with the Bucks, he worked hard and eventually led the team to victory. That is why I think he is worthy of being remembered
