It needs to be seriously tested.” (Charles Moore). It

It is time for human beings to take action towards saving the earth from major environmental issues. If ignored today, these harmful effects are sure to curb human existence in the near future. The United States Federal Government should take steps towards environmental conservation and innovation.  Four relevant environmental issues, where human beings plays a major role in its cause are pollution, deforestation, overpopulation and, ozone layer depletion. Human beings and their actions are considerably responsible for causing all types of pollution. With population growing at a fast pace, the demand for food, shelter has almost tripled in the last few decades. Overpopulation is difficult to control and contributes to waste, greenhouse gasses and pollution.

A layer in earths atmosphere which contains a rather  high concentration of ozone. If actions aren’t taken the consequences can be severe.             Man has made advances in various fields in the past few decades to make human life easier, however progress has made the fight against pollution a lot harder. The invention of plastic, though very useful to human kind has encouraged a culture of wasteful packaging to the detriment of the environment.

There is the ” great pacific garbage patch” which is a collection of marine debris in the north pacific ocean nefariously affecting marine life which in turn affects the people since they’re contaminating the fish that might end up on their plate. “We suspect that more animals are killed by vagrant plastic waste than by even climate change a hypothesis that needs to be seriously tested.” (Charles Moore).

It is not enough to just get educated, the planet need a willingness to implement said knowledge in the fight against pollution.               The most remarkable impact of deforestation is a loss of habitat for millions of species. According to National Geographic “seventy percent of the world’s plants and animals live in forests and are losing their habitats to deforestation”. With fewer trees, due to deforestation, there is less water in the air to be returned to the soil. Additional effects of deforestation involve soil erosion and coastal flooding. The solution to deforestation is to manage forest resources by eliminating clear-cutting to make sure forest environment stays intact.                                     Whereas the ozone depletion occurs when the natural balance between the production and  destruction of stratospheric ozone is tipped in favor of destruction. Natural phenomena can cause temporary ozone loss, however man’s impact is more damaging and possibly permanent due to the use of pesticides, nitrous gases just to name a few.

The thinner the ozone layer gets the more radiation pierces through,” Ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is an essential risk factor for the development of premalignant skin lesions as well as of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer”, According to Jashua Schulman. Cataracts and blindness are among the most common eye diseases related with ozone layer depletion and increased UV-B at the Earth’s surface. Reducing ones carbon footprint is crucial to preserving the ozone, choosing alternative modes of transportation that are less harmful avoiding the use of certain chemicals and opting for more natural methods.             Finally the problem of over population connects every environmental issue together. “The world’s population has touches a mark of 7.3 billion in 2015 and could attain growth level of 9-12 billion before the year 2050″(Uniyal Shivani, et al P1)  With more people that means more resources are being depleted everyday, pollution increases at an exponential rate and since there is more burning of fossil fuels that affect the ozone. Mankind affects several ecosystems by cutting trees in order modernize and make room for an expanding population.

More countries should put systems in place to get the population growth under control; officials should enforce a one-child rule, and put more of an emphasis on educating the population on contraception and its benefits.  If this trend continues there might not be enough space on the planet for everyone, but if measures are taken early enough there might be more of a chance.                     There are those who say environmental conservation can be a waste of funds. Donald Trump stated that “The paris accord will undermine (the U.S.

) economy,” and “puts (the U.S.) at a permanent disadvantage,”even tho the accord deals with lowering greenhouse gas emission. Human health is linked to the state of the environment from the air people breathe, to the water they drink. People need sunlight to live, it helps produce vitamin D for the skin. Maintaining ecological systems is defending the value our natural environments provides for recreation.

Together these support a livable environment.              As shown, the environment belongs to everyone and it is mankind’s duty to protect it. Though there are several actions the authorities can take to help the environment with  pollution, deforestation, overpopulation and, ozone layer depletion.

It should be every individuals promise to make the world fit to live in. If the proper steps aren’t taken and the world continues as such, there will not be a future to look forward to. The world is a vast and marvelous place surprising humanity everyday with it’s beauty, isn’t that worth protecting.
