Is America’s pastime becoming a thing from the past? Baseball is a classic sport known as “America’s Pastime”.

It is one of the most loved sports in the world, and it’s a beautiful game, filled with excitement, happiness, and fans that truly love the game. It was one of America’s first popular sports and remains popular today. However, America’s view of “America’s pastime” has changed over the decades. FFanatic families with little kids can’t take advantages of every game because they are too long. Kids needs rest, they have school, and sometimes they get bored of it. Another usual thing is that the clothing and the equipment junior leagues use are too expensive, and some families can’t afford that. Imagine having a huge family of 3 kids and all of them like baseball, that should be very hard to pay for it.

According to what I see, my opinion is that baseball still is an enjoyable game for families to watch and spend some family time but it is true that kids are losing the passion of it.Some people think that baseball games are too long and that their regular season schedule is as well too. Baseball games take about 2 hours and 50 minutes to 3 hours and more to be played. A game is composed of nine innings but if they are tied at the end of all innings the game goes to extra innings. Their regular season schedule consists of 162 games for each of the 30 teams in the American League and the National League, played over approximately six months. The regular season runs from late March/early April to late September/early October.

Mid-week games are scheduled between Monday and Thursday, while weekend games are scheduled between Thursday and Monday.Major League Baseball games are long enough to enjoy them and have a nice time with family, but now days people prefer rough games with more contact like american football at the National Football League and basketball at the National Basketball League. NFL games take almost the same amount of time to be play like in the MLB but in NFL and NBA during the halftime they make a cheerleader show that calls almost everyone attention and people can go a buy stuff for the rest of the game.

The most popular sports in the United States are: first american football (NFL) with a 32%, second baseball (MLB) with 16% not a huge difference from the third one, college football. Many people think it will soon pass baseball. In addition college football is more supported in college than baseball. Fourth auto-racing with 7% and fifth basketball with 6% but over the years basketball has increased so much its popularity. Basketball (NBA) is also more supported in college than baseball.

It is more than clear at this point that Americans don’t much like baseball anymore, at least compared to how much Americans like football. People prefer NFL because it’s a fast, loud, and violent game. Baseball is slow, low-scoring, and quiet. NFL included in its marketing products for women such as t-shirts, gloves, and coats.Such a thing that baseball hasn’t done yet. Women in baseball games wear men game shirts and most of the women don’t find its size.  NBA are starting to obj. That is one of the things that make baseball decrease its audience.

Usually old people and males are the ones that watch the games in the T.V. or go to the stadium and cheer its team. Money for some players is one of the most important things in their life because they rise up from bad neighborhoods and they want to help their families, now that they can. Since they are kids, they start practicing so they can reach their goal.

A huge problem that sports in the Americas are suffering; is that not all players are gaining the money they deserves. The players that all people know, they gain a lot of money because all brands want to have them as the logo type, children build their stuff because they are their idols, they win awards and a lot of games. Players that are not so famous don’t gain a lot of money because they don’t have the same privileges. In reality, baseball is becoming a victim of its own game play.  Further hindering it is MLB’s lack of effort to modernize and promote the game in a way that is relevant to the new breed of sports fan.

While baseball will never truly disappear in the sports world, it will never again claim the title as America’s favorite sport. Baseball should start thinking about its future so they start increasing their fans and not decreasing. Simply put, baseball has gone from America’s pastime to “passed time.”
