His life story is an evocative example of being a wealth wizard.Dhirubhai Ambani was born on December 28, 1932 at Chowad Gujarat as DhirajlalHirachand Ambani.
His father Hirachand Ambani was a teacher. Dhirubhai Ambanistarted earning at a young age by selling street food. After completion of hismatriculation he went to Aden, Yemen.
He worked at a gas station in Aden. Hecame to India with savings and set up a textile company in a partnership with hiscousin Champaklal Damani. In 1965 their partnership ended because of differencesin business conduct and temperament. This was a kickstart to an ascendingsuccess. In 1992, Reliance made a history after being a first Indian Company toapproach global markets to raise its finances.
Following this it also becamefirst Indian company to be featured in Forbes 500 list. Dhirubhai Ambani wasnamed as the “Man Of 20th Century” by Federation of Indian Chamber ofCommerce and Industry (FICCI). He was awarded “Man of The Century Award in 2000by Chemtech Foundation and Chemical Engineering world for his outstanding contributionto the growth and development of Chemical industry in India. In 2000,1998 and1996 he was featured as the most powerful people in Asia.
On January 2016 –Dhirubhai Ambani was awarded Padma Vibhushan- The country’s second highest civilianaward. Unfortunately, Dhirubhai Ambani suffered from several strokes and gotparalyzed.
