In days, I still felt like I had limited

In my country, Bangladesh, there is astereotypical conception that if a student doesn’t accomplish his undergraduatedegree from a renowned government university, he is incompetent. But I alwaysbegged to differ and rather believed that if a person is genuinely meritoriousand diligent, he will flourish in every aspect of life and this perception iswhat transmuted my life. I have completed my Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honors) fromone of the best private universities of Bangladesh, ‘University of AsiaPacific’ with the highest CGPA (3.99 out of 4.00). I have not only completed myBachelor’s degree with full tuition waiver but have also been honored withseveral awards for my tremendous academic performance.

Now, I yearn to build upmy career as a pharmaceutical scientist and pursuing a Ph.D. degree will be thestaircase to my dream. My aspiration of becoming a researcherinflamed when I have chosen pharmaceutical sciences as my course of study.

Backthen I used to believe that paracetamol is just a medicine that alleviatesfever but never thought it through that it takes a pharmacist so much more-from the mechanism of COX inhibitors to packaging science- to manufacture asingle piece of tablet. Every course, whether it is pharmaceutics orpharmacology, is interlinked with each other which ultimately heeded me towardexploring and learning more. Since that day, I realized my passion toward mydream and have never seized to offer my best at everything, along with anygiven platform that provided me the opportunity to utilize my knowledge interms of the pharmaceutical field. I always crave to explore the wide array ofpharmaceutical disciplines to discover, design and develop new drugs andtherapies.

Although I scrutinized all the generalized and existing knowledge ofpharmaceutical disciplines during my undergraduate days, I still felt like Ihad limited opportunities that ultimately hindered me from focusing on myinterests and learning more profoundly. Among 74 courses in my undergraduatecurriculum, pharmacology was the first subject that made me realize the worthof studying pharmacy and what it means to be a pharmaceutical scientist. Isought to study further to gain comprehensible insight into pharmacology.Recognition of potential drug targets and novel treatments for diseases thatstill lack effectual treatments will be my objective as a researcher.

Beingadmitted to the Ph.D. program will not only help me be trained in high-endresearch skills but will also prepare me to conquer difficult tasks that willcome to be of great assistance in my research career. The inspiration anddesire both come from the fact that pharmaceutical jobs in Bangladesh aregeneric-industry oriented, which basically means that we neither have any scopefor research that embraces the diverse focuses of pharmacology nor do we haveany pharmaceutical scientist who can guide our pharmaceutical sector in thisresearch field. After completing my Ph.

D. degree, I will step forward and createa research team where together the students and the trainees will work towardthe superiority healthcare of my country. To gather advanced understandings in mypreferred research area, I enrolled in the Master of Science in PharmaceuticalTechnology and have successfully completed my post-graduation from Universityof Asia Pacific with CGPA 4.00 out of 4.00. For my graduate thesis work, Iinvestigated the role of SMAD1 polymorphisms as a genetic modifier of risk forindividuals with Colorectal Cancer as susceptible genotypes in the Bangladeshipopulation.

For my research, I used different molecular techniques like DNAExtraction and Quantification, Polymerase Chain Reaction, and Electrophoresis. Now, I am writing my manuscript for publication in a journal about a highimpact factor like ‘Tumor Biology’. Although the purpose of pursuing a Master’sdegree was to gain depth knowledge and research experience in the field ofpharmaceutics and pharmacogenomics, short duration, and fewer curriculum wasinsufficient to explore the other focuses of pharmacology which ultimatelyheeded me toward chasing a Ph.D. degree.

I want to be a part of the Ph.D. Program inPharmaceutical Sciences at North Dakota State University since it will provideme the lively intellectual environment and rich facilities for an extensivevariety of research approaches.

The reason I prioritized North Dakota StateUniversity’s School of Pharmacy as my graduate school is because it offershighly published and cited faculty who conduct world-class research projects. After going through the faculty directory and their research interests, Idiscovered that each research project is propitious whether it is on theidentification of novel targets for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases oron human lung diseases, therefore I am confident to both render and learn a lotfrom them. I also realized that the students and faculties are contributing asauthors on high-impact; peer-reviewed publications and I am just as longing tobe like them.

I also went through the courses and found a few courses similarto my Master’s curriculum which makes me all the more confident to excel in mydesired field. I am confident that your university will guide me towards myvision and mission in the same way it leads their thousands of former studentsto accomplish their dreams. The overall goal of receiving a Ph.

D.degree would excessively aid me in my proficiency, thoughts and innovativeideas as a research scientist both in the field of academy and industry. I havethe greatest passion for learning and I can prove to be one of the bests if Iam given a chance to exhibit my potential.
