ABSTRACT:- AIM:-: To determine the improvement of  thinking through daydreamingOBJECTIVE : To estimate about how does the daydreaming benefit the state of thinking in humansMATERIALS AND METHODS :-The questionnaire was prepared.

The survey was conducted among students. The survey was prepared on Survey Planet and was circulated among students. The questionnaires consist of 17 question. The survey was conducted among 75 students.    RESULTS :-   The results indicated that most of participants enjoy daydreaming during their working period. And also majority of them daydream about their future and life which help them to explore themselves.CONCLUSION :-  This study says that 90% of students daydream during their working period.

 40% of the students are able to concentrate well even while daydreaming. 50%Of them dream about the actual events that had taken place and majority of people don’t loose themselves while daydreaming during  working period. We may  review,rehearse,and learn to understand our lives,without endlessly repeating ourselves(1). While we are busy managing our lives ,our unconscious minds are chewing over problems and thoughts which we are  not even  aware of (8). Daydreaming will be our invisible connection to our own innate wisdom and creativity(2). But it is  also productive to set  aside time to allow yourself to daydream ,and learn to embrace the peculiar and surprising directions that your mind wants to explore(14).Unlike previously thought, the universal phenomenon of daydreaming was  a normal part of our cognitive processes(9). Daydreaming was  defined as “spontaneous, subjective experiences in a no-task, no stimulus, no-response situation , includes unintended thoughts that intrude inadvertently into the execution of intended mental task and undirected ideas in thought sampling during wakefulness”(6) . Although a single daydream usually lasts only for few minutes and it is estimated that we spend one-third to one-half of our waking hours daydreaming, although that amount can vary significantly from person to person(3).

In contrast to what its name may suggest, daydreaming seems to be quite different from all the dreams experienced during the sleep(4). “It was also  believed that fantasies was  the creations of the unfulfilled and the  daydreaming and fantasy was the  early signs of mental illness .Experts now agree that daydreaming was  a normal(7) . An area of the brain called the “default network,” which becomes more active as the level of external stimulus decreases and  is often considered responsible for daydreaming(10). The default network mainly includes the medial prefrontal cortex (PFC), the posterior cingulate cortex or perkiness region, and the temporopariatel junction (5).Neuroimaging studies have offered support for this hypothesis, though only indirectly(20). A different interpretation of these data, offered by Gilbert et al, argued saying that instead of mind wandering , the  activations of the medial PFC part of the default network may  reflect stimulus-related thought like  enhanced watchfulness towards the external environment that was  likely to occur during a highly practiced (8).

3%This survey was conducted among 75 students among which 67 people responded that is about 89.3% of people daydream during their working period. This shows that majority of people’s mind are likely to wander when they are doing some work and sitting and listening to class . And also about 37 people enjoy while they are daydreaming that is about 40%. This tell us that daydreaming makes people overcome external pressure and and involve in themselves and feel relaxed.This survey also show us that about 34 people among 75 daydream about their life or future which would help them to enhance themselves and achieve their goals or solve problems or find solutions to unsolved  problems. Daydreaming is something which last for few couple of minutes which just gives mind relaxation and also at the same time improves the working condition of brain. There is wrong assumption saying that people loose themselves while daydreaming.

But that is not correct all the time ,if we go through this survey we can find that 31 students which is about 42% don’t loose themselves at all . And rest of them doesn’t not loose them completely but they loose themselves infrequently Most of them are unaware of the advantages of daydreaming. This mind wandering , it seems, actually gives your working memory a workout. Working memory is the mental work space that allows the brain to juggle multiple thoughts simultaneously.
